Royal Alexandra and Albert School 

Our centre is located at Royal Alexandra and Albert School in the ground of Gatton Park. The land is part of a country estate of 450 acres of beautiful parkland in the county of Surrey. The school is set in a charming, rural scenery about an hour's drive from central London. All students have access to excellent facilities at the centre such as a sports hall, an indoor swimming pool and a tennis court.

Living

  • Dormitory rooms ranging from 2 - 6 students per room. Located in boarding houses
  • One large bathroom per boarding house with numerous toilets and shower cubicles
  • Communal lounges in each boarding house
  • Room furniture includes a wardrobe, desk and chair
  • Laundry available in all boarding houses, free of charge
  • Wi-Fi available throughout
  • Computer suite available in the evenings
  • Rooms are cleaned weekly
  • Common areas and bathrooms are cleaned daily
  • Linen changed weekly, students must bring their own towel
  • A deposit of £30 is required upon arrival

Food Options

Breakfast

Continental including juice, coffee, toast, cereal and fruit. Full English Breakfast provided on the weekends.

Lunch

2 courses, 3 options including a vegetarian and halal options, large array of salad bowl options and fresh fruit.

Evening Meal

2 courses. 3 options including vegetarian and halal.

Snacks

Small tuck shop is available for students to buy drinks and snacks.

Meals are provided in a large self-service dining hall.

Learning

  • Taught by friendly and professional English teachers
  • 20x45 minute lessons per week, morning or afternoon
  • Placement test on the first weekday following arrival to ensure students in appropriate level
  • Maximum 20 students per class
  • Students will be placed in an international class with students of different nationalities
  • Modern classrooms with interactive whiteboards
  • Classrooms are located throughout the campus
  • Curriculum with emphasis on communication skills
  • Materials included as well as an end of course report and certificate

Programme Information

Arrival

Student will be welcomed upon arrival at the Embassy Summer Office next to the Dining Hall where they will register and get their keys so that they can check-in to their rooms.

Welcome

On the first evening, there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the campus, its facilities and useful information which will help them during their stay.

 

 

 

 

Activities

Activities are organised in-between lessons and during evenings. These activities could be on-site or near to the centre. These may include:

  • Sports such as football, mini Olympics, rounders, table tennis, volleyball and basketball
  • Daytime activities such as scavenger hunts and drama workshops
  • Evening activities such as themed discos, talent shows and team games

Getting to and From School Activities

Our students travel by coach for all activities and excursions outside the centre.

 

Excursions and Trips

HALF-DAY TRIPS

  • Our students get to explore exciting places such as Kew Gardens, Hampton Court Palace and Rochester Cathedral, as well as local visits to Redhill.

FULL-DAY EXCURSIONS

  • London: Visit this exciting capital city and explore the best it has to offer, such as a walking tour of Westminster, visit to the National Gallery, British Museum, the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum and Oxford Street shopping.
  • Brighton: A vibrant and historic seaside city, Brighton students will take a walking tour of the city and visit the Sea Life Centre.
  • Oxford: Students take a walking tour of this iconic university city and get to visit one of its famous colleges.
  • Windsor: Students get to explore the charming, historic market town of Windsor and visit Windsor Castle, home to the Queen of the United Kingdom.

OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS

  • Thorpe Park: enjoy extreme rides and attractions at this popular theme park
  • Legoland: a whole day of fun with endless rides and attractions
  • Chessington World of Adventure: zoo and theme park with roller coaster and water rides

3 WEEK SAMPLE PROGRAMMES

Extra

Each 14 night stay will include 2 half-day trips to nearby towns and attractions and 4 full-day excursions to other exciting towns such as London, Oxford, Brighton and Windsor.
