UCLA has 16 dedicated recreational and athletic facilities, including a fitness centre, numerous swimming pools and much more! Throughout the last 100 years, University of California Los Angeles has established its reputation as a “Public Ivy”, making it equivalent to an education from an Ivy League university. The location is in the centre of the city making it perfect to enjoy the best of living in Los Angeles.

Living
- Standard twin rooms and shared common space
- Both room types have a shared bathroom ratio of 1:4/5
- Each room is furnished with a chest of drawers, closet space and two desks
- The accommodation is divided across four residential buildings, two dedicated to twin standard rooms and two dedicated to apartment-style rooms
- Laundry available in each residence building. High-speed internet throughout. Communal lounges on each floor of the residence building
- Deposit of $100 required upon arrival, replacement of lost room key $100
- Students are responsible to keep their rooms clean and tidy, bathrooms are cleaned daily. Common areas are cleaned weekly and linen changed weekly. Towels provided
- Served in on-site canteen, packed lunch at weekends. Study rooms, fitness & recreation room located on ground floor
- Hilltop Convenience Store located nearby. Sunset Village Recreation Center, including swimming pools, tennis courts, and outdoor exercise machines

Learning
- Taught by friendly and professional English teachers
- 20 x 45 minute lessons per week
- Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level
- Maximum 20 students per class
- Students will be placed in an international class with students of different nationalities

Programme Information
Arrival
Students will be welcomed upon arrival at the De Neve Plaza office where they will register and get their room keys and can check in to their rooms.
Welcome
On the first evening there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the campus, its facilities and useful information which will help them during their stay.
Activities
Activities are organised on evenings and afternoons with full-day excursions on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On Sundays students can choose between an optional -- not prepaid -- excursion or on-site activities. These may include:
- Sports such as football, mini Olympics, table tennis, volleyball and basketball
- Drama and performance activities such as scavenger hunts and drama workshops
- Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show, pool party and BBQ
Excursions and Trips
FULL-DAY
- Downtown LA: Students get to explore the most interesting sites such as LA Cathedral, Olvera Street, LA Union Station, Chinatown and the Getty Centre.
- Hollywood: Students get to stargaze on the famous Hollywood Boulevard with stops at the Walk of Fame, Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive.
- Beach Day: No visit to California is complete without a trip to the beach! Beach days includes trips to the Getty Villa, Malibu, Zuma Beach, Santa Monica and Venice Beach.
- California Science Center and Disney Concert Hall: Students get to learn the wonders of science through interactive exhibitions and visit the magnificent concert hall of Walt Disney, with a stop in the historic district of Little Tokyo.
- Grammy Museum and Griffith Observatory: Students visit the famous Grammy museum, the Staples Centre, home arena of LA Lakers. They also do a stop from some shopping in Santee Alley and finish off with a visit to Griffith Observatory.
OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS
- Disneyland: The first and still one of the most visited theme parks in the world
- Universal Studios: Full of action-packed adventure of rides, shows and real movie studio
- Six Flags Magic Mountain: This 260-acre theme park features world-class roller coasters and over 100 rides
- Shopping Mall Trip: Students head to Northridge Fashion Centre for a taste of Californian shopping.

Extra
Each 14-night stay includes 3 full-day excursions to exciting places around Los Angeles such as Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, downtown LA and Malibu, visiting places of interest in each location. Transport for trips may be by private coach or public transport. Student may have lessons either in the morning or in the afternoon in week 1, alternating weekly after that.This programme is for illustrative purposes and activities and visits may change.
