The sun-kissed island of Malta is a treasure trove of beautiful beaches, crystal blue seas, and centuries of history, all topped off with that chilled out Mediterranean vibe. Get ready to discover everything this little island with a big personality has to offer! Students stay at Campus Hub, a modern residence located at the University of Malta, just 15-minutes walk from St Martin’s College, a local school. These newly built premises are designed and styled perfectly for students and feature a list of amenities that will help students' study-life balance.

Living

Campus Hub

  • Located within a 5-minute private bus journey from the school
  • Twin or triple rooms with shared bathroom
  • Room furniture includes a wardrobe, desk, drawers and air conditioner
  • Common kitchen with lounge area and TV
  • Rooms cleaned weekly
  • Laundry available on campus at an additional cost
  • Towels are provided, however students should bring their own beach towel
  • Dinner and breakfast served on Campus, lunch served at school or activity
  • Students will be required to pay a damage deposit of €30

Food Options

Breakfast

Continental breakfast available including juice, tea, coffee, toast, jams, cereal, pastries and fruit or similar.

Lunch

One hot or cold dish and a dessert will be provided either at school or whilst out at activities. Packed lunches provided at weekends that will consist of a sandwich, water and a dessert.

Evening Meal

Three courses, 2 main course options including a vegetarian option.

There are several shops on Campus to purchase snacks and drinks

Learning

  • Taught by friendly and professional English teachers
  • 20 x 45 minute lessons per week morning or afternoon
  • Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level
  • Maximum 17 students per class
  • Students will be placed in an international class with students of different nationalities
  • Spacious modern classrooms with interactive whiteboards
  • Curriculum with emphasis on communication skills
  • Materials included as well as and end of course report and certificate

Programme Information

Arrival

Students will be welcomed upon arrival to the residence where they will register and get their room keys so that they can check in to their rooms.

 

Welcome

On the first evening there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the centre, its facilities and useful information which will help them during their stay.

Activities

Activities are organised on days when there are no trips and during the evenings, these activities take place either on-site or near the centre. These may include:

  • Sports such as football, mini Olympics, rounders, table tennis, volleyball and basketball
  • Daytime activities such as scavenger hunts and drama workshops
  • Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show and team games

Excursions and Trips

HALF-DAY TRIPS

  • Our students get to explore exciting places around Malta such as Valletta, Mdina, Marsaxlokk and go on a harbour cruise.
  • All trips that are included are half-days. At weekends, students get to explore the most beautiful beaches around Malta.

FULL-DAY EXCURSION

  • Our students get to visit the beautiful island of Comino and explore the best bits of this sparkling jewel.

OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS

  • Gozo: Full-day excursions to Malta’s smaller sister island, full of centuries of history and lots to explore.
  • Sicily: Full-day excursion to the beautiful Italian island of Sicily, filled with gorgeous landscapes and a mix of cultures - Subject to Covid-19 travel restrictions.
  • Beach trips: Optional half-day trips to sandy beaches of Mellieha Bay and Golden Bay.

3 WEEK SAMPLE PROGRAMMES

Extra

Each 14-night stay will include 8-10 half-day trips around Malta to exciting places such as Valletta, Mdina, Marsaxlokk and harbour cruises. There is also a full-day excursion to the beautiful island of Comino. Additional full-day excursions can be purchased as optional excursions. Transport for trips are done by private buses and chauffeurs.
Student may have lessons either in the morning or in the afternoon in week 1, alternating weekly after that.
Arrivals and departures: Saturday or Sunday. This programme is for illustrative purposes and activities and visits may change.

 *Full day excursions to Sicily will be subject to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

Student Welfare

We place the highest priority on care and supervision at all of our Embassy Summer centres, so you can rest assured that students are well looked after. Members of staff (or responsible adults) are available 24 hours a day, including nights.

Student Services

Our student support staff can help you with:

  • Information about local services
  • Assistance with individual and personal problems
  • Emergency contact

Medical Information

If a student needs medical attention, an Embassy Summer staff member will help them to make an appointment. Group leaders must accompany the student to an appointment. An Embassy Summer staff member will accompany any student that is not part of a group. Students must bring their European Health Insurance Card to be seen at local hospitals and clinics.
